Phuket Mining Museum is located in Kathu, and tells the history of tin mining era of Phuket. It has various sections. The first being about the formation of minerals and structure of the earth, then there is a history of mining section that includes wax figures in caves, plus there is a to scale, model tin mine with small miner figures and small building and tools, the highlight section is a scale mock up of what Phuket Town looked like and the way people lived years ago, it contains shops, and wax figures and last but not least a section containing photos and mineral rocks. The museum has been built in a Sino Portuguese style and has a courtyard that has artifacts dotted around it. The museum is not that large so will not take long to walk around, it is sited on Kathu Koh Kaew Road between Loch Palm Golf Course and the British international School Phuket (BISP).
