The Phuket Thaihua Museum is situated in the Sino Portuguese building on Krabi Road, in Old Phuket Town. It gives a fascinating insight into the contribution and history of Phuket‘s Chinese immigrants and some of the major figures and their influence, plus also has information about rubber tapping and tin mining. The Phuket Thaihua Museum is situated in a 2 floor, former school building and is operated and run by a charity. It is very well laid out and is interesting and informative, without being boring or overally detailed. There are various rooms and displays. the main ones being about the tin mining era, Phuket and China relations and links, a Chinese Settlement Display, Phuket Cuisine that explains about restaurants and foods, and a Chinese laid out classroom with old desks, chairs and books. It is a very enjoyable, informative place to spend an hour or two.
